2008 OAIMA Annual Meeting & Trade Show

The Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association (OAIMA) hosted their two day 2008 Annual Meeting and Trade Show in November at the Hilton Columbus on Chagrin Drive in Columbus, Ohio. Attendees enjoyed educational sessions that focused on local, regional and national industry issues, historic, panel, inspirational and motivational presentations, an awards and scholarship breakfast, exhibits, entertainment and an evening reception with an OA-PAC (Ohio Aggregates — Political Action Committee) Live Auction plus post-annual meeting field trip and open house. After an early morning registration and continental breakfast sponsored by Cantwell Machinery Co., the Columbus Equipment Co. and LaFarge North America among the open exhibit area, attendees enjoyed a warm welcome from OAIMA president Joan Martin, O. Brugmann Sand & Gravel; Rick Feltes, LaFarge NA, Past Chairman of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA); and “Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow,” by Patrick Jacomet, OAIMA executive director, who stressed the organization’s 90th anniversary program (1918-2008). Following that was a presentation by April Bott, a partner in Chester-Willcox & Saxbe LLP, on “OEPA’s Water Quality Rule Changes & Potential Ramifications for Aggregate Industry,” and then a break sponsored by Brady, Coyle & Schmidt Northern Ohio Explosives. The morning ended with talk entitled “Setting the Record Straight” by Jeffrey Hoblick, Training Specialist Mine Safety & Health Administration Educational Field Services
