Goldplat Kilimapesa Mine on Target

Goldplat said its Kilimapesa gold project in Kenya, a joint venture with International Gold Exploration, is performing well.
The refurbished plant at Kilimapesa suffered from initial downtime when it was commissioned in January 2009.
Goldplat now aims to increase production to 900t per month of which 750t will be from underground development and the balance from high grade tailings.
Average grades are expected to be in excess of 4g per ton of gold yielding between 124oz and 187oz per month, it said in a statement.
“With the current favourable gold outlook and consensus pointing to a strong year ahead, we intend to take full advantage of the current gold demand as we increase our production and efficiencies at the mine”, said Goldplat CEO Demetri Manolis.
An Environmental Impact Assessment has been submitted to the Kenya Environmental Agency (NEMA) and is in the final stages of assessment.
