Soyuzcement – the Russian association of cement producers – has said that cancellation of cement export duties will provide the industry with new business opportunities. The organisation has said that it intends to lobby the Russian prime minister to cancel the 6.5% duty imposed on cement exports.
According to Soyuzcement, removal of the duties could increase export opportunities to around 2million tonnes per year, which is four times the 471,000tonnes that the Federal Customs Services reports for exports in 2008.
