CiDRA Minerals Processing announced today that one of the largest potash producers has chosen CiDRA’s SONARtrac® flow monitoring systems as their preferred technology for use on the company’s slurry, flotation feed, brine recovery, thickener and tailings lines.
CiDRA will instrument 21 lines at one plant, which will provide increased accuracy and reduced maintenance costs. These units will bring the total number of meters installed at that plant to 24. In addition, CiDRA will instrument eight lines at another plant and these meters combined with the nine meters already installed at the plant bring the total number of SONARtrac systems installed there to 17.
CiDRA’s SONARtrac systems were chosen by this producer because of the system’s non-invasive design, which provides exceptionally high reliability, performance, and maintenance-free operation, thus lowering operating costs and total cost of ownership.
SONARtrac systems flow technology is a new class of industrial flowmeter, utilizing measurement principles that are distinct from all other flowmeter technologies operating in the mining industry. SONARtrac non-intrusive flow monitoring systems do not make contact with the slurry and can be removed and reinstalled when it is necessary to replace the pipe.
In addition, SONARtrac systems demonstrate a very stable output in the presence of a variety of ores, and demonstrate superior levels of performance. This passive, sonar-based technology enables measurements of single phase and multiphase fluids, as well as slurries, with the same level of accuracy and performance
